What Else is there to do in Orlando Besides Theme Parks?

Home » Blog » What Else is there to do in Orlando Besides Theme Parks?

If you’ve been to Orlando before, chances are you have hit one of the huge theme parks there.

If you haven’t and you’re dying to go to one of the many theme parks, here are some links you might find valuable:

Thankfully, I’ve been to Orlando enough times to have done all of them to the point of boredom and now when I visit I’m much more interested in all the other things that Orlando has to offer.

It just so happens that a couple of our friends from the YouTube world, JP & Julia of HellthyJunkFood recently moved to Orlando so they were quite happy to give us some pointers on where to go.

Here are some of their recommendations. (Paige was able to go and check out most of these while I was attending a week-long conference – I joined for a couple).

Lake Eola

Lake Eola

Lake Eola is a beautiful little lake located in the heart of downtown Orlando. It’s a common spot for hanging out, renting swan-shaped paddleboats, city events, or just feeding the birds. Apparently, Paige had a fun time feeding this swan.

International Drive

If you’re visiting Orlando for a conference (like I was) or you enjoy theme parks, chances are you’re staying on International Drive. While this is technically the tourist district, there are plenty of things to see and do along
I-drive” (as the locals call it), like escape rooms, comedy clubs, and indoor skydiving. Personally, I spent most of my time at the convention center, and the nearby restaurants, probably consuming a few too many drinks and far too much event food at the Hyatt.

Little Saigon

Many cities like New York and Toronto have a “Chinatown“, but downtown Orlando boasts it’s own Little Vietnam, flush with Pho restaurants, noodle spots and asian markets. Of course, you can check out the restaurant aptly named Little Saigon and judge for yourself how authentic their Pho is.  Who needs International Drive when you can have an authentic international experience in the downtown core (at the corner of Mills Avenue and Colonial Drive.
