Ten Years a Nomad: Travel Tips from Matt Kepnes

Home » Blog » Ten Years a Nomad: Travel Tips from Matt Kepnes

So, our good friend, fellow travel blogger, and one of our biggest inspirations in traveling, Matt Kepnes just wrote a new book. It goes on sale July 16th, 2019 in stores everywhere and is an essential read for any travel enthusiast. Matt Kepnes aka Nomadic Matt is one of the biggest names in travel blogging. He’s been doing it for, well, 10 years now, is followed online by millions of folks, and has travel guides on just about every destination you could possibly want to go to. He’s essentially a one-man Lonely Planet. His new book follows his journey over 10 years as a digital nomad, the lessons learned, how he got the travel bug and what he did with it, and what it all means for travelers.

We were lucky enough to meet up with Matt in Toronto to interview him and get some of his top travel tips for finding the best off-the-beaten-path experiences in a new destination, how he plans his trips and gets the most out of his travel on the smallest budget, while he told us a bit about his new book.

Obviously, getting 10 years of non-stop travel experience packed into one book is a no-brainer for any traveler so it’s already on our essential reads list. Pick it up for yourself on Amazon or wherever books are sold.

Speaking of The Lonely Planet, this was their review:

“In his heartfelt explanation and exploration, Matt runs through just why he’s been out there, backpacking the world for 10 years. By the end we’ve definitely realized, like Matt, how important travel is and how getting out there, on the road, can make you, me and the world a better place. It’s a great pity certain people at the very top of the world’s power pyramid never had just a little taste of the nomadic experience.” – Tony Wheeler, founder of Lonely Planet
